31Dec07 Hawera, Mt Taranaki

Leaving Opunake on the 31st the intention was to get to the Mountain Lodge on Mt Taranaki for New Years Eve. The next town for a stop was Hawera. Here we had to try an 'Anderson's Pie' - not really impressed somewhat ho hum and climb the Water Tower. Now that was impressive and a must do if you are ever there.The view over Hawera from the Water Tower speaks for itself......and looking down on our motorhomes, circled in yellow, puts it into perspective.The following two pics give an internal view of the Water Tower and how you climb up to the top and the viewing platform.


The final destination was the Mountain Lodge 800m up Mt Taranaki...

... where we were to celebrate the passing of 2007 and welcome 2008. The 1st of January 2008 bought in a fantastic day but more on that in the next post.
